About Shadle/Guyton SSAT Tutoring
Lynn Guyton and Martha Shadle have partnered together for the past 10+ years to offer SSAT classes and services. Their SSAT classes focus on the overall test strategies, individual section strategies and skills. A full Take-Home Mock Test is given at the conclusion of each class. The Mock is scored and the results are emailed to the parents. The full Take-Home Mock as well as Mini-Mock are available to middle and upper level students.
Lynn and Martha offer private tutoring separately.
Private SSAT Math Tutoring: Lynn is the founder/owner of a full-service tutoring business, Learning Linkz, located in Vinings. Learning Linkz offers all types of tutoring, kindergarten through college. Lynn's group offers private SSAT tutoring for the math sections only.
Private SSAT Reading, Writing & Verbal: Martha has her own business off of Howell Mill offering Orton-Gillingham, reading, spelling and writing services. Martha's group offers private SSAT tutoring for the reading, verbal and writing sections only.
Ideas for SSAT Planning
When planning for the SSAT, our experience has been that a student needs to spend time learning the test strategies as well as practicing the test. A SSAT preparation class will allow your child to hear the strategies more and also practice. A full Mock will give you a gauge on how your child is learning the concepts. You can also schedule a private score consultation to discuss your child's scores. Usually, after a student has taken our Mock or the National Test, they will benefit from private sessions to work on their specific weakness.
When to take the test? Everyone has different reasons for taking the National at different times. It is important to take the test so you do have the option of having your child take the National Test more than once. Taking the test for the first time in October, November or December will allow your child to do this. Some like October to get a baseline. Others like November to give their child longer in school and to take the test before the holidays. Others like December so their child can be in school even longer and have more exposure to math skills.
